By Sarah Larkin At seven o’clock on the night of January 20th, it didn’t matter whether you were from Wilson or Mifflin because everyone came together to make a change. At the annual Dunking for Diamonds basketball game, students from both districts cheered for their favorite teachers while also supporting a good cause.

By Ersha Kumar On Friday, January 20th, some of the most talented students at Wilson displayed their unique abilities at Aevidum’s 4th annual talent show. Acts spanned from singing, dancing, instrumental performances, baton twirling, and skits. Although the event involved around three months of hard work, Aevidum is proud to have put on a show that allowed students to showcase their talents in front of their friends, families, and peers. The talent show’s purpose was to recognize each student’s abilities and let his or her uniqueness shine through during the show. By Crystal Hildebrandt Working with children is an amazing career that many high school students are considering. Teaching is a wonderful career that can expand horizons and fulfill specific expectations. A class offered by Wilson that offers amazing experience for this field is Virtual S.I.A. Virtual S.I.A. is only offered to seniors, but it is completely worth it. By Maggie Foight Wilson’s literary magazine, “Ink,” recently hosted a coffeehouse in the Lower House drama room during Bulldog Period. The event took place on Dec. 7th to raise money for printing costs. Donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate were available to all who had paid the $3.00 entry fee.
The magazine accepts short stories, poetry, photography, artwork, dramas, and essays to be published in their biannual booklets. About 15 students look through all entries and determine which submissions deserve a first-place monetary prize and which deserve honorable mentions. To submit, a student just has to be a student at Wilson High School with original work. The link can be found at http://tinyurl.com/hcan8qr. By Maggie Foight For this issue’s Female Student Feature, the student talks about time management. For all high schoolers at Wilson, making good use of time is essential. Becoming distracted or off-topic can create high piles of homework, and when said students are involved in extracurriculars as well, the result is inevitably a very long night. Aprille Mohn, a senior at Wilson, is enrolled in online courses as well as advanced placement courses this year. With piles of homework and much to do, Mohn uses excellent time management to keep her head above it all. By Maggie Foight This month, the Male Student Feature highlights a very important aspect of life for all high schoolers, but athletes in particular: competition. Competition comes in all sorts of forms, whether it be in academics, social life, or sports, but what does it mean to be competitive in general? Maxwell Valeriano, a sophomore at Wilson, deals with competition and all that comes with it on the daily. He is a swimmer, not only on the high school team, but for a club team as well. In the fall, he plays water polo. By Sarah Larkin If curiosity killed the cat, then Bryant better be careful the next time he sticks his whiskers in the wrong place! Bryant is a 5 year-old Domestic Short Hair who can be entertained by anything and everything. With a little extra fat than he should have, his exploration-driven personality ought to do him well in a new home. If he’s not exploring, he will make your lap the perfect resting place. Whether you want to cuddle or go on an adventure, Bryant is the perfect cat! By Sarah Larkin Mason is nine years old, but he sure doesn’t act like it! This American Pit Bull Boxer mix doesn’t realize he’s over the hill in dogs years and has lots of energy. He loves to play with people and toys, but not with other dogs; Mason needs to be an only pet. This handsome boy has been cooped up at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County since January 16th where he has been barking out his energy in between walks. Mason is also very smart and knows a lot of commands, so he will be sure to sit and stay in your heart! |
