By Ersha Kumar On Friday, January 20th, some of the most talented students at Wilson displayed their unique abilities at Aevidum’s 4th annual talent show. Acts spanned from singing, dancing, instrumental performances, baton twirling, and skits. Although the event involved around three months of hard work, Aevidum is proud to have put on a show that allowed students to showcase their talents in front of their friends, families, and peers. The talent show’s purpose was to recognize each student’s abilities and let his or her uniqueness shine through during the show. The show lasted from 7PM to around 9PM. The emcees were sophomore Kiera Spann and senior Claire Payen. The show’s judges included Ms. Marconi, Miss Huang, Mrs. Lorchak, Mrs. Arndt, and Miss Sustello. Each performance was graded on criteria including creativity and audience appeal. The top three performers were rewarded with a cash prize depending on their place; 3rd received $25, 2nd received $50, and 1st received $75. Although the judges had a difficult time with their decisions, first, second, and third place respectively went to Stephania Penuela, Iyanna Upsher, and Joelle Eckert.
But regardless of who won, everyone had a great time and that’s all that really matters. Who couldn’t help but take out their phones and turn on their flashlights when Madison Blimline and Lily Eck sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus? Everyone was clapping along when Renata Garcia-Beaube and Bridget Burkhart performed a spunky rap song. The audience couldn’t help but sit on the edge of their seats to see if Dejah Graffius would catch that baton after yet another amazing throw. And Stephania Penuela had all of the audience on their feet cheering with her dance moves that left the crowd wondering if their bodies could possibly even move like that. The talent show is an event that allows students of all backgrounds, talents, and abilities to take part in. Inclusivity is one of the main pillars of Aevidum and is one of the main reasons they host this event every year. If you were not able to make it this year, Aevidum hopes to see you for the next one!
