Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump has made many bold and controversial statements. Recently, he has raised the issue of the eligibility of another Republican candidate, Ted Cruz. Cruz has openly let America know that he was born in Calgary, Canada, but now people are starting to wonder if he can run for president according to the Constitution.

When it comes to taking tests and quizzes in school, cheating is always a concern, and, of course, most schools try their best to prevent this from occurring. However, measures to prevent cheating are not always foolproof. In fact, statistics have shown that the amount of cheating that occurs in high school has risen dramatically in the past fifty years, which brings us to the question: how much cheating actually goes on without administration knowing? The annual Wilson Homecoming festivities took place during the week of Sept. 28, through Oct. 2, culminating in the selection of our Homecoming King and Queen. On Friday Oct. 2, 2015, the homecoming football game took place at the Gurski Stadium. During halftime, the 2015 Homecoming King and Queen were announced. The winners of the honorary titles were Alex Keller and Casey Schmehl, and were crowned by last year’s King, Ian Roth. On Monday August 17, 2015 at a school board meeting, Dr. Ruth announced his plans to retire after the 2015-2016 school year. Seven years ago, Dr. Ruth got the job as the superintendent of the Wilson School District. He has been the superintendent of Wilson since then and is going to retire from this job. The idea of retiring started running through Dr. Ruth’s mind last October when he turned 55. He believed that this would be the best time to make a change and retire from his long career at Wilson. Dr. Ruth truly believes that being able to work at the Wilson School District was a blessing. However, it would be healthy for him to “explore other opportunities,” said Ruth. Dr. Ruth said that he had no jobs set up for after his retirement, and he wants to take July and August off and take a break from work. “I promised my wife I would not take another job until I take a little time off,” Ruth admits with a bit of humor. Dr. Ruth has been offered different jobs, but he hasn’t chosen one yet. He would like to look into all of his possibilities first. Dr. Ruth first pursued the career of education because it seemed like a great fit for him, and in the words of the superintendent, “it turned out it was fantastic, it’s been super.” When Dr. Ruth joined Wilson about 32 years ago, he was a physical education teacher at Central Junior High. This job was a great fit for Ruth due to his interest in athletics. For most of his years here, Dr. Ruth was also the coach for the Wilson water polo team. Dr. Ruth led this team to numerous championships and countless victories. When asked about returning to coaching water polo, Ruth responded with excitement and expressed his hope that he will be able to coach the sport again. Dr. Ruth would love to get involved with water polo again because of team. Dr. Ruth led this team to numerous championships and countless victories. Dr. Ruth and his family belong to St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church where he is a very active and involved member. Another occupation that Dr. Ruth could see himself doing is some type of educational leadership at a Catholic Institution. The search for a new superintendent is in fact going on right now. The board is doing a very wide search in order to find someone who can fill Dr. Ruth’s large shoes. Dr. Ruth has loved his years here at Wilson. “I’ve got great colleagues, great students, great community, so it’s been a blessing it’s been fantastic,” said Ruth. His favorite memories of this district include the community and people here that he is so thankful to have met and have in his life. Dr. Ruth’s 32 years of hard work and dedication to this district will forever leave a mark. Likewise, the school district and the memories Dr. Ruth made here will also leave a mark on his heart. |
