By Sam Scholar and Sarah Larkin Wilson’s staff is one of the most integral parts of its reputation as a stellar school. New teachers come in every year and are paramount to the success of the school, so here are some new teachers to look at for here at Wilson! Mrs. Keller is a CP English 10 and Transition English teacher here at Wilson. In the past she has taught at Reading High School and Buxmont Academy. For her secondary education, she went to Wilson’s rival school Governor Mifflin High School. Keller then continued her education and went to college at Alvernia University. Her favorite food is seafood (but not oysters). She loves penguins and also spending time outside. Mrs. Keller has two kids and enjoys getting to spend time with them. She always likes to tell students to “ask for help when you need it.” Mr. Falk encourages his students to “work hard and take chances.” Before coming to Wilson, Mr. Falk helped students in Muscatine, Iowa by teaching Algebra I and II, Geometry and some computer classes. Currently, he works at Wilson and teaches iSTEM Algebra II for ninth graders. Mr. Falk actually grew up in southwest Iowa and moved to Pittsburgh to attend Geneva college for his undergraduate education. After getting his degree at Geneva, he moved back to Iowa only to return to Pennsylvania since his now wife had lived there. The math teacher’s favorite food is watermelon, and his favorite animal is his dog Finn, an Australian Shepherd. In his spare time, Falk enjoys reading, writing and running; he currently helps out with the school’s cross country team. Miss Diehl is new to Wilson and teaches CP English 11 and CP English 12. Wilson is her first teaching job after student teaching at Greencastle Middle School and High School. She graduated from Shippensburg University before coming here. Miss Diehl loves seafood and her favorite animal is a horse. Outside of school, she spends her time doing arts and crafts, going for walks outdoors and reading poetry slams. She often says to her students “Own it; no matter what you do, make sure you’re true to yourself. Mrs. DeNault is a CP Algebra II teacher at Wilson who loves to eat chips and salsa. For high school, she went to Abington Heights in Clark Summit, Pa. and then went to college at Kutztown University. Before coming to Wilson, Mrs. DeNault was a math coach at Berks Career and Technology Center. One of her favorite quotes is “Dig what you dig, and let them dig what they dig,” which John Lennon said. Mrs. DeNault hopes to be able to hand that wisdom down to her students. When she is not at school, she passes her time by painting, running, biking and swimming, which is fitting because her favorite animal is a fish.
