By AJ Newton With every long stride forward, he literally feels the wind rushing through his hair. Cross-country runner and major Jennifer Lawrence fan, Cameron Cavanaugh is a fantastic example of a future role model. As a freshman, Cameron has already made himself known to the fellow students and faculty of Wilson. In the beginning of the year, he won the freshman student body vice president. But other than the September student of the month and a Mr. Wilson candidate, what is Cameron really like? On Sundays, most people wake up late or even lay in bed all day, but not Cameron. Every Sunday morning, he wakes up and goes to church at nine in the morning. Then at every meal, even at school, he prays before he eats. Occasionally, he fasts, which means that he doesn't eat for a certain amount of time. Religion is really important to him. Cameron also runs cross country which is literally just miles and miles of running. It seems like an entryway to a painful death, but he loves it. Although he has only started on the team this year, he has previously done track for the past two years and will continue this upcoming season. Cameron also participates in the theater company and played “The Messenger” in the latest school play, Antigone. He started acting when he was in middle school and loved it so much that he felt it was important to keep acting. Other than school, Cameron also cherishes the time with his family. On holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, he is the person to pray before the big family meals. On Christmas Eve, he and his father’s side of his family all get matching pajamas and wear them for Christmas. Family is one of the most important things in Cameron’s life. Cameron Cavanaugh is a responsible high school student, but he is also a great person and friend. Don’t be surprised if you ever see his name on the news for saving a cat in a tree or becoming the next track superstar. Cameron is unbelievably talented and will hopefully continue to use those talents to help make our community a better place.
