Here at Wilson the junior and senior class combined is almost 1,000 kids, a number that would be too big for any fancy hall to hold. If Prom was just for seniors, Wilson could afford to have Prom somewhere besides the gym. The Prom committee manages to make the gym look decent every year, but most people at Prom still can not overlook the fact that they’re in the gym. When asked, many seniors agree with Prom being for seniors only, while juniors feel that they should be allowed to attend. According to senior Gillian Hertzog, “[Prom] should definitely be a senior prom, but Wilson needs more dances. What happened to homecoming? Juniors can go to that?” When asked about prom, senior Camryn Sheasley explained that “Prom should be for seniors only, planned by seniors. However, if a senior wants to bring a lowerclassman, that should still be an option.” Senior Riona Mackey-Wood is very passionate about this subject and said, “I believe that Prom should 100% be for seniors. If juniors want to go to Prom, they should have their own Prom. If Prom was seniors only, we could go to somewhere nicer than the gym.” When asked if juniors should be allowed to attend Prom, junior Ashley Brown said, “I think they should because not everyone is friends with the people in their grade. I wanted to go this year because all my friends are seniors, and I don’t like the people in my grade.” Senior Katelyn Bramble-Plotcher said simply, “I don’t think Prom should be for seniors only. I think it can be for juniors and seniors. I like Prom the way it is now.” Even though many Wilson seniors, myself included, wish that Prom was for seniors only, we are all grateful that we even get a Prom at all.
