By Amanda Le As of 2016, Wilson High School has adopted an activity period schedule in which occurs on the sixth day of a cycle. This new resource period brought up questions on what its purpose may be and how it would affect students and teachers. Wilson's deliberate decision to have an extended period was for the sole goal of having all students and teachers realign their hectic schedules, comprised of sports or various other activities, to catch up with academic work. By Abigail Wurster Women are weak and men can’t have emotions. Women are the homemakers and men are the full time workers. These ideas are essentially what gender roles tell us. 41% of men and women believe that a woman should stay home with kids, while the father goes out and creates the income for the home. This is completely flawed as women can do the same things men can. We can work, and we can be strong. Men can stay at home with the kids, and men can have feminine qualities without risking their masculinity. By Jessica Reichart Who are you when nobody's watching? While the uses of cannabis beyond recreation are debated to this day, the industrial uses of hemp - a series of cannabis that is very distinct from the drug marijuana - has been ruled guilty by association. Since the DEA can’t disprove its uses, they simply disregard them. By Madison Rohrbach There is one word that has touched us all, that everyone fears that their doctor will say: cancer. Cancer happens when cells in your body growing uncontrollably, all while attacking the surrounding tissue. I originally started writing this with the intention of informing the public with the use of facts and statistics. However, the day I started to write this article, I went to the annual “Gold out” football game for Mini-THON. During this event I realized that the statistics are just numbers. It's not the statistics that are affected, it's the people. |
