By Treis Way Kendall Jenner is a very popular supermodel that has a wide range of supporters and equally as many haters. With that fame comes the responsibility to know the obvious wrongs within the things she endorses. If Jenner wanted to be, she could be a very influential individual and affect people’s lives for the better. Jenner was in a recent Pepsi commercial that involved a public protest. The commercial in question gave an unrealistic vision of public protest in the modern day and age: some viewers saw the ad including a white supermodel running the Black Lives Matter movement with a can of Pepsi and a smile on her face, people who were offended had the right to be because this is their everyday lives that they’re fighting for. Pepsi missed their mark on their goal of "trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding.” Jenner commented on the subject and said she “feels like her life is over.” I believe that Jenner is genuine about her believing her life is over, although she’s being a bit dramatic. Even though she needs to be mindful of what she endorses, Jenner is human, and I really do believe she is sorry for what she did. She made a mistake that anyone could have made. However, the main difference is that she is a celebrity. Jenner will make up for what she did eventually, and although she raised a lot of controversy to a very serious movement, people will forget. Blaming Jenner for a mistake she made won’t change the fact that in this world you have to fight for what you want regardless of the outcome. This still doesn’t make what she did right, but at least Jenner was protesting rather than staying quiet and keeping her thoughts and opinions to herself. The commercial, overall, was a widespread misunderstanding, taken in many different ways. You can see where people are coming from with their frustration, but their frustration should be less focused on Jenner and more on fighting for 100% equality for all races.
