During Super Bowl LIII, a Patriots’ 13-3 win against the Rams, Gronkowski suffered such a painful thigh injury that he had trouble walking after the game. Bruised after the battle, Gronk remarked that he would take the next few weeks to consider his future in the NFL. It hasn’t been the first injury the tight end has had to endure, but it may be his last. Plagued with multiple back, ankle, and knee issues throughout his nine seasons on the Patriots, Gronkowski has a big choice to make. So far there has been little indication as to what the top athlete formally plans to do.
According to USA Today, he was "51 percent" sure about where his future was headed following his fourth Super Bowl appearance. In typical Gronk fashion, he just wouldn't say which way he was leaning. In these early weeks of the offseason, the Patriots tight end has been going regularly to Gillette Stadium, according to ESPN. Gronkowski’s latest actions may be a clue to his upcoming decision on whether he’s ready to retire. Is he just seeking treatment for his quad or is he reflecting on competing for another season? This isn’t the first time Gronk has flirted with retirement. After the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles last year, retirement rumors swirled. There was speculation that Gronk was going to be traded to the Detroit Lions in the offseason but the tight end said he’d only play if Tom Brady was his quarterback. However, an important meeting with head coach Bill Belichick changed his mind and Gronkowski announced he would return for the 2018 season. Gronkowski is arguably one of the best tight . After nine battered seasons and numerous surgeries to his bruised body, Gronkowski seems like he is a man that could walk away gratified. Whatever Gronkowski decides, he is sure to end it on a high note
