By James Brennan The world has not seen Tiger Woods play a round of golf since August of 2015. For all of his fans out there - and there are a lot of you - you get to see him back in action on October 13th at the Safeway Open. Tiger has already tried to make multiple comebacks in the past couple of years, but they have all been derailed by many injuries. Tiger said after his back surgery that he tried to fight through the pain, but it was too much for him to play. It all started when he he had a stress fracture in his left tibia in April of 2008, and it has only been downhill from there. From then until now, he has had many problems with his knees and back that have caused him to play in only 18 tournaments from 2014 until now. Hopefully this time it will be different because Tiger makes watching golf a lot more exciting. If he could even get back to at least half of what he was when he was in his prime, he will be a contender for almost every tournament he plays in. Also, Tiger Woods is like the Lebron James or Peyton Manning of golf on terms of being idolized. Many kids in my generation look up to Tiger and were inspired to golf because of him. Not only to do Tiger's fans love him, but TV companies do too. Tiger's comeback will definitely help the TV ratings for golf. Back in 2014, when Tiger played, the ratings were higher than an NBA Finals game. Also, from 2007 to 2009, there were 21 different times where a golf telecast had a 4.00 rating or better, and Tiger was involved in everyone of them. However, when Tiger didn't play in the 2008 PGA Championship, the ratings were one-third of what they were when he played in the 2009 PGA. TV companies have to be grateful that Tiger is returning because he is a ratings machine. Tiger returning brings many positives to the game, but will he be able to get back to his old self? Let's just hope that Tiger can finally turn it around and stay healthy because he does not have that many seasons left in him.
