Under head coach, Sean McVay, the LA Rams were the first to capture a playoff seat with their explosive season (11-2). Even though the Rams were already the NFC West champions, they tried to lock down the first round bye with a win against the Chicago Bears. Sadly for them, they fell to the Bears 15-6.
As Week 14 progressed, the New Orlean Saints (10-2) overtook the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7) with a score of 28-14, while the Kansas City Chiefs(10-2) eked out a 27-24 win against the Ravens (7-5). Two more of the coveted twelve playoff positions had been secured: the NFC South and AFC West. More than likely, Tom Brady will make his 16th appearance in the postseason as the New England Patriots will top the AFC East with their record of (9-4). Another expected slot to be filled will be from LA Chargers (9-3) but that chance, unfortunately, comes from a wildcard vacancy because of the Chargers trail one game behind clinched division leader, Kansas City. Other probable division winners include AFC South leader Houston Texans (9-4) and NFC North Chicago Bears (8-4). Who will take the NFC East? The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-4-1) and the Baltimore Ravens (7-5) are evenly matched since they both won a divisional game against each other. The Ravens had momentum with a 4-week win streak until the loss against the Chiefs; however, Pittsburgh still has a tough road ahead with games against New England and New Orleans. My bet is on the Steelers because the opposing teams already clinched their divisions and will play a bit more cautiously- making sure their valued starters stay healthy. The most heavily watched rivalry of Week 14 game between the Philadelphia Eagles (6-7) and the Dallas Cowboys (8-5) of the NFC East. Tied 23-23, the Cowboys awkwardly crept down the field in overtime. On a 3rd and 8, with 2 minutes left in OT, Dallas scored a TD on a miraculous Amari Cooper catch. It was his 3rd TD of the game. It’s anyone’s guess to see who will secure the last wild card spot. The next two weeks should certainly make for some interesting football.
