By Dylan Edelman History has been rewritten once again. Simone Biles, one of the greatest athletes, laid to rest any doubt of her capabilities at the 49th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. The 22-year-old commanded the competition, which took place from October 4 to October 13, 2019, winning gold in five of her six events. Her career total of 25 medals, 19 of which are gold, made Biles the most decorated gymnast, male or female, at the World Championships. Extending her undefeated streak in the all-around, which dates back to 2013, Biles won with her largest ever margin of victory at the world championships, 2.1 points. According to cnn.com, Biles won the vault by more than half a point, averaging 15.399 for her two attempts, her score for the floor routine, a 15.133, was a full point ahead of second place and her win on the balance beam with a score of 15.066 was six-tenths of a point better than the runner-up. Redefining gymnastics and wowing crowds, Biles has multiple moves named after. Like tongue twisters, they are hard enough to say let alone perform gymnastically. Two of the latest ones are a triple twisting double tuck on floor and a double twisting double tuck dismount off the beam. Despite her stature, a height of 4 feet, 8 inches, Simone Biles is the biggest athlete in any sport to watch. She is taking gymnastics to a new level, and it is not just about the number of medals she won, which alone solidifies her case as the greatest gymnast of all time. It is how she's doing it. Over the last three years, she has just gotten better. This comes after taking a year off from the sport, after revealing she had been abused by the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor, Larry Nassar, and after becoming the first woman in thirty years to medal in all six events at the 2018 World Championships while battling a kidney stone. Previously, Biles has said that she will be retiring after 2020, but she is not finished quite yet. She plans to compete in the Tokyo Olympics next year and undoubtedly thrill the world with even more challenging routines.
