By Kris Jones With the amount of story lines that could fill a compendium coming into the 2016 draft, people around the NFL community knew that this draft would be one of the most memorable in decades. Roger Goodell was met with a chorus of boos yet again this year, which is a trend until Goodell is kicked out of the commissioner position.

By Kyle Edelman The LA Lakers are 15-59 and the worst team in the Western Conference. Their lone highlights this year include tracking Kobe Bryant’s final games and watching their young, future stars blossom into decent players. One of those stars is D’Angelo Russell, the 2nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Lakers had not picked top 3 in the NBA Draft since the 1980’s, so their pick last year was essential to an eventual rebuild of the once glorious franchise. Though Russell’s play has been impressive at times, the young point guard might have a new issues with his new team. In Kanye West’s song “Real Friends,” he writes, “It's not many of us, we smile at each other But how many honest? Trust issues.” Though the LA Lakers and Kanye West would never be related in any other circumstance- unless there was a Kardashian involved, this lyric describes the current drama within the team. On March 28th 2016, a snapchat video surfaced of Nick Young, a shooting guard for the Lakers, answering questions about sleeping with “a couple of women.” By Utkarsh Panchal During the regular and postseason, there was a lot of surprises. That, apparently, carried into the offseason as well. During NFL free agency, players that were bound to get traded got traded, and some players, who looked like they would stay on the same team, got traded as well. To start things off, the Eagles, who brought in a new coach, was bound to trade the remains of the Chip Kelly offense and Defense. To start, Demarco Murray got traded to the Titans, as well as Mark Sanchez, who went to the Broncos, where Peyton Manning retired, and Brock Osweiler got picked up by the Texans. Kiko Alonso, who was Chip Kelly’s replacement for LeSean McCoy, got traded, along with Byron Maxwell, to Miami for draft picks. By Kris Jones Before the glitz and glamour of the NFL Draft, there is another important event in which NFL coaches and their scouts go to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to attend the NFL Combine. The Combine is a 4 day event where some of the best prospects in the nation have a special invitation to workout under the watchful eyes of every coach and scout in the league. The workouts include the 40 Yard Dash, the most infamous of the workouts, positional drills, bench presses, vertical and broad jump, the 3 cone drill and the shuttle run. But, enough of the summary, let’s break the combine down by the days. By Utkarsh Panchal Super Bowl 50. A milestone for the NFL. Incidentally, it was also a milestone for one of the most iconic quarterbacks to ever play the game: Peyton Manning. Rumored as the last game he will ever play, this Super Bowl would give Peyton his 2nd ring. But, he had to go through one of the toughest teams in the NFL: the Carolina Panthers. As we see now, Peyton and the Broncos did just that. The Broncos triumphed to a win over the seemingly undefeatable Panthers. By Kris Jones As we all know, many football fans suffer from the dreaded affliction known as “post-Super Bowl-depression”. It’s that feeling every football fan gets after the Superbowl is over, the festivities are done and the teams get a well-deserved break. But, there is a ray of hope for football fans is on the horizon, and it is called Major League Football, or the MLFB. The company doesn’t have anything set in stone as of yet, but people may wonder “what in the world is MLFB?” Well, luckily, here is a bit of an explanation. The MLFB is a spring and summer alternative to the NFL, filling the void that Roger Goodell and his crew leave, and is owned by former NFL wide receiver, Wes Chandler. The league believes they will “answer the demands for a spring professional football league that’s explosive, innovative and focused on the fan experience,” via MLFBMedia.com. By Kris Jones The NFL offseason has barely even begun and yet, the NFL world is shocked. Why, you say? Well, Seattle running back and the most quotable, yet non-vocal interviewee ever Marshawn Lynch and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson unofficially announced their retirement from the NFL. As we know, a player’s time in the NFL or any professional sport is never determined, it is never set in stone. Injuries can permanently scar or disable a player for life. Or maybe they retire for personal reasons. As football fans, we get that. By Kyle Edelman For the past five years, the NBA’s best overall power forward has been Blake Griffin; he combines smooth scoring with fierce rebounding and masterful passing, but his latest outbreak might have even his strongest supporters questioning his presence among the greats. According to reports from Foxsports.com, Griffin threw a punch at the Clippers assistant equipment manager at a Toronto restaurant on January 23rd. If that wasn’t worse enough, he broke his right shooting hand in the process causing him to miss another 4-6 weeks of playing time. Griffin had been out since December 26th after suffering a torn quadriceps muscle. By Kris Jones Oh, Chip Kelly, how far you have fallen. From hope in the ESPN acclaimed “sports purgatory” to the laughingstock of the entire city of Philadelphia. For those who do not know Chip Kelly, here’s a bit of backstory of the man himself. Chip was a nationally acclaimed college coach who coached the Oregon Ducks and Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota. After former Eagles head coach Andy Reid was fired from the team due to poor performance, who would be hired to replace Andy? Well, Chip Kelly, of course. After a course of good seasons with the Ducks, Chip jumped at the offer to coach on the professional stage.
