By Kyle Edelman The LA Lakers are 15-59 and the worst team in the Western Conference. Their lone highlights this year include tracking Kobe Bryant’s final games and watching their young, future stars blossom into decent players. One of those stars is D’Angelo Russell, the 2nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Lakers had not picked top 3 in the NBA Draft since the 1980’s, so their pick last year was essential to an eventual rebuild of the once glorious franchise. Though Russell’s play has been impressive at times, the young point guard might have a new issues with his new team. In Kanye West’s song “Real Friends,” he writes, “It's not many of us, we smile at each other But how many honest? Trust issues.” Though the LA Lakers and Kanye West would never be related in any other circumstance- unless there was a Kardashian involved, this lyric describes the current drama within the team. On March 28th 2016, a snapchat video surfaced of Nick Young, a shooting guard for the Lakers, answering questions about sleeping with “a couple of women.”

By Utkarsh Panchal During the regular and postseason, there was a lot of surprises. That, apparently, carried into the offseason as well. During NFL free agency, players that were bound to get traded got traded, and some players, who looked like they would stay on the same team, got traded as well. To start things off, the Eagles, who brought in a new coach, was bound to trade the remains of the Chip Kelly offense and Defense. To start, Demarco Murray got traded to the Titans, as well as Mark Sanchez, who went to the Broncos, where Peyton Manning retired, and Brock Osweiler got picked up by the Texans. Kiko Alonso, who was Chip Kelly’s replacement for LeSean McCoy, got traded, along with Byron Maxwell, to Miami for draft picks. By Kris Jones Before the glitz and glamour of the NFL Draft, there is another important event in which NFL coaches and their scouts go to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to attend the NFL Combine. The Combine is a 4 day event where some of the best prospects in the nation have a special invitation to workout under the watchful eyes of every coach and scout in the league. The workouts include the 40 Yard Dash, the most infamous of the workouts, positional drills, bench presses, vertical and broad jump, the 3 cone drill and the shuttle run. But, enough of the summary, let’s break the combine down by the days. |
