By James Brennan The wait is finally over, and the MLB season is back. The MLB season is very long and anything can happen from now until October, but it's never too early to make some predictions. If all goes well, here is what will happen. Starting with the American League, the Boston Red Sox will be the team to beat. The Red Sox are led by a group of young super stars including Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and rookie Andrew Benintendi. On top of that, they have one of the best rotations in all of baseball. Their rotation includes last year's Cy Young winner Rick Porcello, newly acquired superstar Chris Sale and veteran David Price. This combination of young stars and a great rotation is why the Red Sox will be representing the American League come October.
For the National League, the Chicago Cubs will come out on top for the second straight year. Like Boston, the Cubs are also led by a group of young stars that is complimented by a solid rotation. The talented young team is led by Kris Bryant, who is the reigning NL MVP, and Anthony Rizzo, the starting first baseman and the leader of the team. Along with this duo, the Cubs rotation is loaded with veteran pitchers. Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta headline their rotation, and they have been two of the most dominant pitchers for the past couple of years. Although the Cubs are the defending champs, many think the Red Sox will come out on top in a seven game series because the Red Sox just have too much power and their rotation is just slightly better. Along with the World Series bringing an end to the season, so do the awards. Each year awards are given out to the best players, pitchers, rookies, etc. of the American and National League. Mookie Betts will take home the trophy for AL MVP and Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies will be the NL MVP. Both of these players are leaders of their teams and are two of the best players in the entire league. For pitchers, the Cy Young award is the coveted honor. I believe that Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers will be this year's Cy Young Winners. Both of these guys have some of the best stuff in the majors and will utilize it against their opponents. Finally, Andrew Benintendi of the Boston Red Sox and Dansby Swanson of the Atlanta Braves will be the rookies of the year by a long shot.
