By Clara Weber On March 4, 2019, the world was shocked to hear that Luke Perry had died of a stroke. As Perry said in an interview years ago, “When my time here is up, I don’t wanna look back and see that I didn’t do anything. And by that I mean I didn’t have any effect on anything else.” After the world watched Perry grow up from a young adult to his early 50s, nobody can say that Luke Perry hasn’t left his big mark. Perry was born on Oct. 11, 1966 in Mansfield, Ohio and grew up in Fredericktown, Ohio with his three other siblings. Later on, he ended up in Hollywood, California in 1984 to pursue his dream.
It took three years of odd jobs and many auditions to finally land his big role on the TV series Beverly Hills 90210 at the age of 24. After this, he became very popular and was seen in TV programs, movies and, occasionally, even on stage. Throughout the years, he became a part of other big films like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Oz and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. At the age of 27, Luke Perry married Rachel Sharp, with whom he had two children. She was an actor as well, seen in productions like Teen Wolf and Vampires Suck. After ten years of marriage, the two divorced and went their separate ways. Perry seemed to disappear for a while; however, he made a huge comeback in one of his most recent shows, Riverdale, a TV show based off of the Archie comic strips. It is rare for someone in their 50s to have a stroke, but it could partially be linked to the fact that his father died in his 30s of a heart attack. On Feb. 27, 2019, Perry was sent to a hospital in Los Angeles, California, where he stayed for a few days. Luke Perry will be forever missed by all, and he will never be forgotten. While he never will be able to continue to work on films, it can safely be said that Perry has done plenty to leave his mark on the world.
