By Mackenzie Kraras Ever wonder what goes on in that person’s mind? Or think, “What could that person possibly be thinking right now?” If so, study the brain in AP Psychology with Mr. Hughes. As an average student who never took an AP class, Psychology was the perfect challenge for me. Although the content is difficult, it is extremely interesting and I learn something new every day.
As a high school student, your parents always ask the question, “What did you learn today?” Instead of ignoring them or giving them a very vague response, I now become excited to tell them the interesting facts I learned in psychology class. Mr. Hughes is a major component in making this class so successful. He always tries to make the class as fun as possible and helps us during times of frustration. Although he wants us to challenge ourselves, he understands our different learning levels and abilities and is willing to help anyone out. Almost every week, Mr. Hughes has us fill out a form asking us what we don’t understand and how he can teach the content to us in a more understandable way. As a stressed student, having a teacher who wants to constantly hear your feedback is extremely helpful. Mr. Hughes also sets up the classroom in a collaborative setting. The desks are put together in groups and there are a variety of different places to sit in the room. There are also many bright colors, making the students more motivated to learn. AP psychology is a class I would recommend to anyone. I enjoy it every day and nobody else could make it as enjoyable as Mr. Hughes. If you want a challenging but interesting course, this class is for you.
