By Seth Kramlich As someone who has coached a total of 27 years, 23 of which were at Wilson, Ernie Wolber is a dedicated man who has made an impact at Wilson High School. Wolber attended Alvernia University and got his degree there. Now, he is an Instructional Assistant here at Wilson High School. In addition to this, he also coaches the Varsity Football Team.
When asked why he coached, Wolber responded with, “Football has taught me so much about life and I love the sport. As a coach I want to pass that passion onto the younger generation, and show that hard work and determination pays off.” Mr. Wolber also stated that football keeps him young, but there is also a lot of stress involved. “The good weighs out the bad,” said Mr.Wolber as a follow up. Coach Wolber also coached at Albright College. When asked why he came to high school football he stated, “I hated recruiting and a telling a kid they would play when it wasn’t true. That is when I knew I wanted to coach high school football.” Outside of school and coaching, Wolber has a wife and two boys. He is passionate about being the best husband, father and friend that he can possibly be. Wolber also enjoys playing golf and going to the beach. As a both a football coach and an instructional assistant, Wilson High School is lucky to have someone so invested in our community. Wolber inspires students, players and families with his hard work and dedication.
