The White House is also concerned about how this growing trend will affect the brain development of teens who vape.
Future health illnesses are unknown, though the impact is becoming evident. It has been reported that e-cigarette usage among high schoolers has increased by 78% between 2017 and 2018. There are both financial and social consequences that the With House will be faced with due to the decision to ban flavors. A significant amount of money is being made by companies who produce these flavors and, for this reason, many companies are fighting this potential decision. The original purpose of e-cigarettes was to help adult cigarette smokers become healthier and transition to these less detrimental smoking alternatives. Unfortunately, there was a paradigm shift with this product and the White House wants to step in and be proactive to protect teens and young adults. This decision, of course, will be difficult for the White House and can potentially have negative repercussions because there will be a direct clash between economics and public health.
