By Autumn Heckman Saving up and paying for college is never easy. A lot of students may even say it’s too expensive for their budget or taste. But while college may be expensive, you have to look at the other side of things. Depending on which college you chose to attend, the price may vary. However, the more you pay, the more knowledge you receive. Possessing more knowledge could result in earning more money later in life. If college was free or low-priced, it wouldn’t be worth near as much to have it under your belt. Anyone could get any job anywhere because everyone went to college. It wouldn’t be as big of an accomplishment anymore, it wouldn’t give you as much value, and there would be that much more of a competition to get a job. With colleges that range in price, you get to decide what you want for your own benefit. Some politicians and pundits claim that students can’t afford college, yet this is a complete lie. For example, public two-year colleges, are nearly free for low-income students. Being so cheap but still known as a college, anyone could get a college degree, gain knowledge, and find a good, average wage job. People that don’t go to college, don’t go because they can’t afford it, they don’t go because they don’t want to. Going back to 1636, students have been submitting applications, getting accepted and attending colleges all over the United States for different interests or majors. Ever since 1636, students have been putting a lot of money towards attending college, getting bank loans, and gaining knowledge from paying for classes. In fact, as time goes on and people gain more and more knowlege, colleges are becoming more expensive. Why is that? Because knowledge is not cheap! It never will be cheap and if you want to make money later, you have to spend the money now. If you pay and attend a college you are investing in your future, you're not throwing money out the window. With all of the ways to get around paying a full tuition, there is no such thing as not being able to afford college. If you don’t go, you don’t want to go.

As a current college student attending a University that is $53,000+ a year... I agree. Knowledge is not cheap, and the education I am receiving at LIU is top class with excellent professors from professional backgrounds. College is extremely worth it, and students should not let the cost deter them.
